When Does Silent Hill: Townfall Release?

Silent Hill: Townfall launches on September 24, 2026. The confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

That puts Townfall just days away from release, making this one of the most important final opportunities for players to learn what makes this Silent Hill entry different from previous games.

You can find the latest release information on the official Silent Hill: Townfall website.

A New Silent Hill Story in St. Amelia

Townfall tells a self-contained story centered on Simon Ordell, who is called back to the isolated island of St. Amelia to "put things right."

The town is covered in fog and appears strangely empty. As Simon explores the island, fragments of its past begin to emerge, gradually revealing his connection to the location and the people who lived there.

Rather than simply using cinematics to explain everything, the developers have built much of the storytelling into exploration and puzzles. Discovering how the town works is therefore also part of discovering what happened there.

Silent Hill Goes Fully First Person

One of Townfall's biggest changes is its perspective. The entire game is experienced through Simon's eyes in first person.

The Silent Hill series has experimented with first-person sequences before, but Townfall represents the first full-length Silent Hill experience designed entirely around this perspective.

The change has a major impact on exploration. Searching desks, opening doors, examining clues and navigating dark environments all happen from a much closer point of view.

Players also have less awareness of what is happening outside their immediate field of view, which the developers use to build tension while exploring St. Amelia.

The CRTV Is More Than a Classic Silent Hill Radio

Townfall introduces one of its most distinctive gameplay devices: the CRTV, a small portable television carried by Simon.

It represents an evolution of the radio traditionally associated with Silent Hill. Instead of simply warning players about nearby danger, the CRTV can pick up unstable signals around St. Amelia.

These signals can provide information about the environment, reveal pieces of the story and help players investigate certain situations.

Its design also works naturally with the first-person perspective because Simon can physically raise the device into view while exploring.

Narrative-Driven Puzzles

Puzzles are another major part of Townfall. Screen Burn Interactive says the puzzles were developed alongside the story rather than being treated as separate obstacles.

That means solving a puzzle may reveal information about St. Amelia, Simon or another character instead of simply unlocking the next area.

The first-person viewpoint also encourages players to carefully examine rooms for documents, diagrams and environmental clues.

Exploration and Survival

Townfall combines exploration, tense encounters and moments where avoiding danger can be just as important as confronting it.

Players will need to observe their surroundings and decide how to react when moving through dangerous areas. The CRTV and a dedicated peek mechanic can help players understand what may be nearby before moving forward.

This creates a style of gameplay focused heavily on uncertainty and atmosphere, fitting the psychological-horror identity of Silent Hill.

PS5 Features Make Townfall More Immersive

The PlayStation 5 version includes several features designed specifically around the DualSense controller and PS5 hardware.

Haptic feedback is used to communicate events happening around the player, while adaptive triggers add different tactile responses during supported interactions.

Motion controls can also be used with the CRTV. Players can physically adjust the controller while tuning the device to weak signals.

The PS5 version also uses 3D audio to make environmental sounds more spatial. This becomes particularly important with a first-person perspective where players cannot always see what is happening around them.

Ray-Traced Lighting

Lighting plays an important role in the atmosphere of St. Amelia. According to the developers, ray-traced lighting helps environments react naturally to sources such as the player's flashlight and other lights throughout the world.

This technology also helps emphasize the visual contrast between the blue-grey fog of St. Amelia and the more dramatic appearance of the Otherworld.

Standard and Deluxe Editions

Silent Hill: Townfall is available in Standard and Deluxe Editions. Konami has also announced digital bonuses associated with eligible pre-purchases and editions.

The Deluxe Edition includes additional digital content such as an alternate Simon outfit, an interactive artbook and digital soundtrack, along with 48-hour early access.

Konami's confirmed platform list includes PlayStation 5, Steam and Epic Games Store. PS4 is not included in the announced platforms.

Final Thoughts

Silent Hill: Townfall is taking the franchise in a noticeably different direction without abandoning its focus on psychological horror, mystery and environmental storytelling.

Its full first-person perspective, St. Amelia setting, CRTV mechanic and narrative-driven puzzles give the game its own identity, while features such as DualSense integration, 3D audio and ray-traced lighting aim to make the PS5 version particularly immersive.

With the September 24 release now only days away, players will soon be able to see how Screen Burn Interactive's interpretation fits into the wider Silent Hill series.
