Chrome includes practical tools for comparing pages, marking up documents and keeping PDFs easy to find. Google announced Split View, PDF annotations and Save to Google Drive on February 19, 2026. This guide focuses on using them on a computer.

1. Compare Two Pages with Split View

Split View places two tabs beside each other in one browser window. To try it, right-click a link and select Open link in split view.

A useful example is comparing two product pages. Keep specifications visible on one side while checking the other listing. Write down the differences that matter to you rather than relying only on the headline price.

It can also help with research: keep your source visible while drafting notes in a separate web app. Check that your notes accurately reflect the original before moving to another source.

2. Annotate PDFs Without Leaving Chrome

Open a PDF in Chrome's viewer. Select Draw, then choose a pen or highlighter from the panel. Adjust the size and color as needed. The viewer also offers Add text for typed annotations.

When downloading your work, select With your changes. Chromebook users should select Save to preserve edits.

Try these tools on a copy of a short document first. Highlight only the passages you want to revisit, and use brief notes that explain why each passage matters. Reopen the saved copy to confirm that your marks are included.

3. Save PDFs Directly to Google Drive

In the PDF viewer, select Save to Drive, choose your Google Account and select Save. Wait for the upload confirmation. The file is stored in the Saved from Chrome folder, and Open in Drive lets you access it.

This feature is unavailable in Incognito mode and Guest profiles.

If you use several accounts, check the selected account before saving. For a simple filing routine, review your saved documents regularly and give important files descriptive names so you can recognize them later.

A Simple Workflow to Try

Compare two sources using Split View, mark the useful sections of a related PDF, then verify your saved document. These tools address different parts of the same task: reviewing information, recording observations and organizing the result.

Start with one tool that matches your current work. There is no need to change your entire browsing routine to make use of a helpful shortcut.
