Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra combines a large display with pen input and a workspace built around multiple apps. Samsung announced the tablet on September 30, 2026, then published an everyday productivity overview on October 5.

Here are the confirmed highlights, followed by our assessment of what to consider before treating an Android tablet as your main work device. This is an announcement overview, not a hands-on review.

Release date and U.S. price

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra arrives in the United States on October 7, 2026, starting at $1,399.99. Gray and Silver are the announced colors. Pricing and availability vary by market.

These details come from Samsung’s official U.S. launch announcement.

Display, processor, and software

  • Display: 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Design: 5.1mm thickness.
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 9500.
  • Software: Android 17 with One UI 9.
  • Updates: seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch.

S Pen and multitasking

The S Pen is included. In its October 5 productivity guide, Samsung describes handwritten notes, sketching, and running up to three apps side by side. Some apps do not support Multi Window.

Samsung DeX provides a desktop-style workspace with resizable windows. A keyboard and mouse can complement that setup, while Samsung’s Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim are sold separately.

You do not need a Galaxy phone to use the tablet as a standalone Android device.

Battery and charging claims

Samsung lists an 11,600mAh battery and 45W charging. Its claim of up to 23 hours is based on local 720p video playback under specified test settings, not a guarantee for gaming or demanding work. The 45W charger is sold separately.

Can it replace a laptop?

Radar Next’s assessment: the answer depends on your apps and workflow. A spacious display and window controls can make working with several tasks more comfortable, but the appearance of a desktop does not establish compatibility with every desktop program.

Before choosing a tablet as your primary computer, write down the tasks you perform every week. Check whether your required software offers the features you actually use on Android, including file export, offline access, extensions, and any specialist tools.

For example, someone who mainly reads documents and writes short drafts has different requirements from someone who relies on a specific desktop editing application. Test the real task rather than judging the device only by its processor or screen size.

Include accessories and ongoing app subscriptions in your budget. Also consider where you work: a large tablet may suit a desk better than a cramped seat or a small bag. These are practical considerations, not conclusions from our own testing of the S12 Ultra.

What still needs testing?

We have not measured battery life, sustained gaming performance, display quality, or app reliability on the launch device. Samsung’s specifications establish the hardware and advertised features; independent testing is needed to evaluate the everyday experience.
