Google Gemini Adds New Tools for Small Businesses

Google introduces new Gemini tools for small businesses, including brand visuals, financial insights and connected apps. Discover what's new.

Google Gemini tools for small businesses, including branding, financial insights and connected apps

Google Gemini for small business is getting a dedicated business landing page, marketing and finance skills, and additional app connections. Announced on October 20, 2026, the update is designed to bring more everyday business tasks into Gemini.

What Google announced

The business hub brings together branding, financial analysis and customer insights. Google lists connections to Business Profile, Ads and Workspace, alongside services such as Canva, Shopify, Wix, Xero and Dropbox.

For marketing visuals, businesses can supply their website, brand kit, fonts or colors. Google says Gemini retains that style and uses Nano Banana 2.1 to help create consistent assets.

The financial tools can turn spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into graphics and interactive models. These are Google's announced capabilities, rather than results from our own testing.

Who can access the new tools?

Google announced a global rollout beginning in the days after the announcement for all Gemini app users. A rollout announcement does not mean every account immediately sees every feature.

How to check your connected apps

Google's Connected Apps guidance explains that availability depends on factors including your account type, device, country and the Gemini app you use.

  1. Open Gemini and sign in.
  2. On the web, look for Customize > Connectors. If Customize is hidden, check More.
  3. Open an app's details to review its supported actions and example prompts.
  4. Connect the service you need and follow its on-screen instructions.

You can use an @mention to specify an available app in a prompt. Connections can also be removed from Connected Apps settings.

Three practical ways to evaluate Gemini for your business

The following are suggested test prompts, not demonstrations of verified output quality. Begin with a small task whose result you can judge.

1. Draft a focused marketing brief

Instead of asking for a complete campaign immediately, provide a clear audience, offer and tone. For example:

“Draft three Instagram captions for a local home-design business. Use a warm, professional tone. Ask me for the offer details before mentioning a price or discount.”

Review the draft for claims you can support and wording that sounds like your business.

2. Test a consistent visual direction

Prepare a short reference describing your colors, typography and intended audience. A useful starting prompt is:

“Create a concept for a product announcement using the brand references I supplied. Keep the layout readable on a phone, and leave space for a headline I will provide.”

Check the logo, product appearance and text before using the result publicly.

3. Explore a small sample of business records

Try a limited sample with clear column headings before uploading a large collection. For example:

“Group these sample expenses by category. Show which rows you could not classify confidently, and explain the assumptions you made.”

Compare the output with the original records. A convincing chart is only useful when its underlying figures and categories are correct.

Review permissions before allowing app actions

Google distinguishes app connections from the actions Gemini can perform within them. Its permissions guidance describes choices such as allowing a step once or saving an ongoing preference.

Connected app action settings can be changed later. Review which actions may run automatically, particularly when a workflow involves customer communications or changing stored information.

Why this update matters

Our view: the useful test is whether the tools reduce repeated work while producing results you can check. Start with one recurring task, record how much editing it needs, and expand only when the process is reliable enough for your business.
