Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max: Specs, Price, Cameras and Release Details
Huawei has introduced the Mate 90 Pro Max as part of its latest flagship smartphone family. This guide covers the announced specifications, China pricing and the practical questions to ask before ordering. It is based on published launch information rather than hands-on testing.

Price and Release Details
The launch price for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version with Kirin 9050 is CNY 9,499. The 16GB and 512GB version with Kirin 9050 Pro costs CNY 9,999 in China. Reuters also reported the latter price when covering the October 1 announcement.
These are China prices. A currency conversion does not establish an official price in Morocco, Europe or another market. Shipping, taxes and retailer margins can change an import quote substantially. A global release date was not established by the sources checked for this article.
Display and Everyday Handling
The screen’s size makes it a candidate for watching videos, reading and working with larger interfaces. Whether it feels comfortable is a separate question: check its dimensions against your current phone, especially if you use your device one-handed.
Huawei advertises a 12,000-nit peak brightness figure, measured at 1% APL. This refers to a very small illuminated portion of the display under test conditions; it does not describe sustained brightness across the entire screen. Outdoor readability should be assessed through independent testing.
Cameras: What the Hardware Tells You
The main camera has an F1.4–F4.0 variable aperture and optical stabilization. Huawei lists approximately 4x optical zoom, while the telephoto camera also supports macro photography. The manufacturer notes that the 200MP high-resolution mode works at the 4x focal setting.
Those capabilities provide different ways to frame a scene, but resolution alone cannot establish image quality. Look for full-resolution samples of moving subjects, indoor portraits and night scenes before deciding how this phone compares with other flagships. Our camera phone guide provides further context for evaluating photography and video priorities.
Battery and Charging
The battery and charging figures are promising on paper. They do not establish how long the phone lasts during your own mix of navigation, photography and gaming. Huawei’s maximum charging speeds require compatible charging equipment, so check the adapter, cable and wireless charger offered with your purchase.
HarmonyOS and Gaming Compatibility
Reuters describes this generation’s software as Android-free. Buyers should therefore verify app availability directly rather than assume that familiar Android installation methods will work.
Make a list of the services you cannot replace: banking, messaging, navigation, work authentication and your favorite games. Confirm that their supported versions provide the features you need in your country. For gaming, also check account access, purchases and multiplayer compatibility. A powerful processor is useful only when your games are supported.
Huawei’s performance claims are manufacturer claims, not results from our own testing. Sustained frame rates, heat and battery use require independent measurements. If gaming is your priority, compare those results with alternatives such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
What to Check Before Buying
- Confirm the exact RAM, storage and processor configuration.
- Verify your essential apps and local mobile network compatibility.
- Ask who handles repairs and whether the warranty applies in your country.
- Compare the final delivered price, including taxes and accessories.
