GTA 6: Release Date, Map, Vehicles and Pre-Order Details
GTA 6 takes players to Leonida, with Vice City at the heart of Rockstar’s next crime story. But choosing a version of the game means checking more than a release countdown: prices, bonuses and even the contents of the retail box deserve a closer look.
This guide brings together the current official announcements about the release date, setting, vehicles and pre-orders. Where a detail remains unannounced, we keep it separate from confirmed information.
GTA 6 is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are open. The announced US prices are $79.99 for Standard Edition and $99.99 for Ultimate Edition. The setting is Leonida, including Vice City.
These release and pricing details appear in Take-Two’s pre-order announcement.
When Is GTA 6 Coming Out?
Rockstar’s official GTA VI website currently lists November 19, 2026. That is the date to use when planning your purchase; older articles and retailer placeholders may show superseded information.
The announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC launch date is not included in the current announcements reviewed for this guide. PS4 and Xbox One are also absent from the announced platform list.
For a closer look at the PC situation, see our GTA 6 PC release date guide.
GTA 6 Map: Vice City and the State of Leonida
The game’s setting extends beyond Vice City. Rockstar’s Only in Leonida showcase names six destinations:
- Vice City
- Leonida Keys
- Grassrivers
- Port Gellhorn
- Ambrosia
- Mount Kalaga
These names establish the areas Rockstar has introduced, rather than providing a complete road-by-road map. The pages reviewed do not give a verified total map area or an exact size comparison with GTA 5.
Check the origin of maps shared online. Fan reconstructions can illustrate theories about trailer locations, but their boundaries and distances should not be treated as Rockstar’s final layout.
GTA 6 Vehicles: Which Names Are Official?
Rockstar’s edition comparison page already identifies several vehicles and vehicle-related items. Examples include:
| Official name | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| ’95 Grotti Cheetah | Edition benefits showcase |
| Shitzu Squalo | Edition benefits showcase |
| ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy | Edition benefits showcase |
| Ganado Retro Build | Named vehicle-related benefit |
This is a selection of officially named items, not a complete vehicle catalogue. The page also lists Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles and a Classic Car Collection, but those headings alone do not establish every model available in the finished game.
Vehicle identification from footage requires another distinction: a car resembling a familiar GTA model is not the same as Rockstar publishing its name. Before repeating an exact vehicle count, check whether the list counts official names, visual identifications or speculation.
Who Are Jason and Lucia?
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are the central characters. Rockstar introduces Jason as a former soldier working around drug runners in the Keys. Lucia has recently left prison and is determined to improve her circumstances.
A score goes wrong, drawing the pair into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. Their reliance on each other gives the story its central relationship.
GTA 6 Pre-Orders, Prices and Editions
Pre-orders began on June 25, 2026. The Standard Edition’s announced US price is $79.99; Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and adds a collection of vehicles, weapons, clothing and other story-related content. Local prices depend on the storefront and region.
Rockstar announced the Vintage Vice City Pack for pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026. Digital pre-orders also include a month of GTA+, subject to the offer’s terms.
The US PlayStation Store listing states that the GTA+ subscription renews after the included month unless cancelled. Read the redemption instructions and renewal terms before activating it.
Does the Boxed Version Include a Disc?
No. According to Rockstar’s pre-order support page, the boxed version contains a digital download code, with no disc. Rockstar lists PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and Rockstar Store as purchase options, alongside selected retailers where available.
If you prefer collecting discs, check this detail before ordering. A retail box and a disc-based game are different products, even when both appear in a shop’s physical games section.
When Does Pre-Loading Start?
Take-Two announced pre-loading for digital pre-orders from November 12, 2026. Downloading early prepares the installation; it does not move the November 19 launch forward.
What Has Been Announced for PS5?
PlayStation’s announcement describes DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, controller-speaker effects, Tempest 3D AudioTech and use of the console’s SSD. The store also labels the game PS5 Pro Enhanced.
These features do not establish a particular frame rate or resolution. Check detailed performance information before choosing hardware specifically for the game. If your current controller needs attention, our PS5 controller drift guide covers troubleshooting steps.
